Quaker News From All Over: Quaker Parrot Becomes School Mascot in Galesburg, Illinois

Nice story at Galesburg.com (home of the Register-Mail) about Al, a Quaker Parrot who's become the school mascot at the AlWood Elementary School. Al spends his workdays at the school but goes home on weekends in the care of the Dean of Students. The parrot adds a lot to the school, and is apparently both a good talker and a great listener. According to the school superintendent, "He’s more of a counselor than I’ll ever be... (the kids will) often talk to him before they’ll say anything to me."
